Sleep deprivation caught up with me last night, I guess. R&R must have worn me out. lol
We did actually just sit around and visit (catch up) most of the day. Most of us were ready to sit in one place for a few days. Especially Glen and Gayla who had traveled 1700 miles one way to pick up their repaired motor home. Jeff and Marcella arrived from their hiking at Kennicott about 3. So there will now be 4 rigs traveling together when we head out again.
Some of the "girls" walked along the harbor to see if there had been some fish brought in. We were rewarded to see a 100+ lb. halibut that an individual had caught.
Gary and I fixed reubens for supper. There were other contributions from the others.
After we had eaten, we drove a few miles out of town to a fish hatchery where we had seen a sour bear with 2 cubs catching salmon four years ago. As is everything else, it was different this time. There were no bears but on the way back, there was a young grizzly along the road. He probably was wanting to get to the salmon if the people would just move. There were boats in the bay with large nets out fishing. It is amazing how many ways there are to fish in Alaska. There were many harbor seals and sea otters there also.
Valdez, there are mountains on all sides
The 100+ lb. halibut
Finally able to enjoy eating outside
Seal
Young bear - guessed he was old enough to have been kicked out of "family" group
