Kenny Lake to Valdez - July 2, 2014

The Alaska state birds otherwise known as the mosquitoes were  so numerous that you could not step out of your RV without getting attacked.  They also sneaked in when you opened the door to the RV or truck.  I was hoping we didn't have a wreck trying to kill them in the truck as we traveled.
Jim, Dee, and we decided to head on to Valdez even though Jeff and Marcella had stayed at Kennicott/McCarthy last night, will do some hiking today, and stay at Kenny Lake again tonight.  They will join us in Valdez tomorrow.
Before we left, we rode with Jim and Dee back to Liberty Falls (about 17 miles).  It is a rapidly rushing falls that is near the road.  We had seen the sign yesterday but was too tired to stop.  We were very glad that we made the drive back before we hooked up this morning.  We also passed by a Yak farm.  We stopped for pictures but didn't visit it.
We are at Bear Paw Campground right by the harbor right downtown Valdez.  Glen and Gayla arrived even before we were all set up.  So when Jeff and Marcella get here, the four of us will be traveling together again.  We are very glad  Glen/Gayla are back with us and they are so happy to be in their "home" again.
The information on Thompson Pass that we crossed is:  It is credited with some of the most snowfall extremes in the state of Alaska.  The record measurements are:  974.5 inches for the season (1952-53), 289 inches for the month (February 1953), and 62 inches for a 24 hour period (Dec. 1955).  Obviously the pass is closed sometimes.

The trip here was via the Richardson Highway.  We traveled through canyons, passes, glaciers, water falls and beautiful show covered peaks.  I guess pictures will tell the story.
