It was a short drive today, only about 22 miles. The reason we didn't come on earlier is that we couldn't get into the campground earlier. It is simply unbelievable how many RVs there are on the road and therefore the campgrounds are often full and we have to make prior reservations.
After we arrived, we got out train tickets to Hurricane on Thurs. confirmed and got our boarding passes. Marcella and I walked a little way to the town and a street market. It started raining and we had to call Jeff to come and get us. I don't think there has been one day without rain since we left home the 27 of May.
Glen, Jim, and Dee are planning to take a flight up to and around McKinley mountain and land on a glacier. We did that in 2010 and it is pretty pricey so we have chosen not to do that this trip. They checked on flying today but the clouds didn't cooperate so they will check about flying again in the morning.
We all went to town, which is basically one street, and ate dinner at the Wildflower restaurant. After we are, we walked down to the river bank hoping to get a glimpse of McKinley but the clouds were still blocking the view of it. We walked along the street and I took some pictures of funny/different signs.
The campground we left this morning - almost had the park to ourselves
Wildflower restaurant - seafood chowder is delicious
Think this is the type of vehicle first taken tourists into Denali National Park
Funny sign
Funniest part of this sign is the misspelling
Can't imagine how anyone could eat this
Wonder how this is rated
