We only traveled less than 150 miles from Valdez to Glenallen. The horsetail falls, bridal veil falls, Worhington glacier, other glaciers, the Thomson pass, and the many mountain peaks and waterfalls along the Richardson Highway were still breathtakingly beautiful even if we had seen them on the way to Valdez. We stopped at the falls to take more pictures. It is pretty amazing how many more RVs are on the road than when we were here four years.
We arrived at the Northern Lights Campground in the early afternoon. Oh my were we rudely greeted with mosquitoes. We grabbed the spray and any other mosquito deterrent we could lay our hands on.
Gary actually climbed up the rocky path to have our pictures taken

Decided not to have supper here

Alaskan pipeline up close
This is the way it felt when we got out at the campground.
Gary and I went with Jim and Dee on a little tour of the area. Our first visit was to the visitor's center. They recommended a couple of places to visit. Even they admitted that Glenallen is a very small place and not a lot of attractions in the area. We drove a little way to Copper Canyon Princess Lodge which is a beautiful lodge with a fabulous view of the Wrangell mountains. Then we made a stop at a spot where you could get close to the Alaskan Pipeline. Actually most of the pipeline is underground but in places where there is permafrost it is above ground. I don't understand a lot of the engineering that went into the construction of it but am impressed none the less.
