Talkeetna to Healy - July 18, 2014

Today's drove was about 130 miles.  We tried to get a campground just north of Denali National Park but couldn't get 4 spots so we came to Healy at McKinley Campground.  It started raining just after we got hooked up, thank goodness and has rained for several hours.  You have to wade through a "lake" to get to our door.

There was some awe inspiring scenery along the way, especially at Broad Pass.  It is not particularly high but made you feel you were on top of the world.  The only wildlife we saw was a pair of swans unless you count a dead moose.  Oh we did see a little ground squirrel in Denali park.  I am really reaching, aren't I.

Will just post some pictures and let them tell about the journey.
We did stop at a veteran's memorial along the way.  This is for the coast guard.
 It was very tastefully done.
 Five branches of the service.
The sign below explains this .

The Igloo closed several years ago.  Looks like it would have been an interesting place to stay.
 Mountains along the way
Glad we got see some wildlife

Lodge at Denali National Park.  Below:  we had a lot of construction north of the park.
