Catching up for Mon. June 9, 2014..Watson Lake to Whitehorse

I think I have the previous day labeled Mon. June 9 but I have a hard time knowing what day it is.  This is Tues. but because I couldn't get in to the wifi last night I am trying to catch up.  Now you are probably as confused as I am.
The trip yesterday was about 270 miles from Fort Nelson to Watson Lake.  The was less vegetation and the terrain was dryer and as a result there was no wildlife sightings except 2 Swans from afar.  The scenery was breathtaking as usual.  What a beautiful world God has provided for us.
There were a couple of stops at a native Tlingit Heritage Center and  the George Johnston Museum.  George Johnston was a Tlingit who was known for his trapping and his fine photography.  One winter when trapping was especially good, he bought the first car, a 1928 Chevrolet and brought it by paddle boat to roadless Teslin 13 years before the Alaska Highway was built.  He built his own road and charged people for rides.  He painted it white and drove it on Teslin lake in the winter and hunted there.  In the spring he painted it green and hunted on land.  We enjoyed the museum and the chance to stretch our legs.
We arrived at Whitehorse about 4 checked in, set up, and all got together for some of Gary's smoked pork sandwiches.

The first stretch of "bad" road on the whole trip

Glen and Gayla have left their motor in Grand Prairie, BC for extensive repairs that may take 2 weeks or more.  They caught up with us in Watson lake on Sun.  and got to join us for supper.  They are traveling in their pick up and staying in motels.  They have gone on so they can meet their daughter and family when they fly in to Anchorage.  We hope to get together for a boat tour out of Seward
