Portage to Seward - June 19, 2014

I started the day with a short hike on a boardwalk along a stream with Marcella and Gayla.  It was misting rain and we didn't see any wildlife but was an enjoyable start to the day.  Actually, we were relieved that we didn't encounter a bear or moose.

There are 5 rigs in the caravan now so is a little harder to stay together.  We all knew our destination so wasn't necessary to stay together.  The only wildlife we saw on the were eagles but Jim and Dee did see a cow moose with twin calves.  They weren't in an area they could pull of so didn't get pictures.

After we got set up and had lunch, we went to the harbor to schedule our wildlife/glacier cruise for tomorrow.  There are 14 in our group so it should be a lot of fun.  Then I went with Jeff and Marcella to hike to the exit glacier.  It was about a 1.2 mile one way hike that wasn't too difficult.  It was pretty neat to get that close to a glacier.  Along the way, there were signs indicating where the glacier was at different dates dating back into the 1800s.  It was a dramatic example of how far it has receded since then.

After we fixed dinner and ate. I talked Gary into a short walk along the water which is in sight of our 5th wheel.  It is hard to get a site right next to the water but they are all very close.  When we were there before, there were sea otters swimming along the shore but I haven't seen any yet.
